Join us for our virtual conference on the 21st Century Cures Act (Cures Act); Congress’ most ambitious enactment with respect to health data technology thus far. It seeks to create the first truly national health information network for health data exchange, and regulate and improve the quality, operation, and use of electronic health records (EHR) across the nation. It also seeks to promote the use of application programming interfaces (APIs) and related devices so that patients—not just care providers—are empowered to use EHRs. The Cures Act touches on technology certification, provider reimbursement, and drug and device policy, implicating the jurisdiction of the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and the Food and Drug Administration. These and other agencies are working on the implementation of the Cures Act’s mandates.

This program will provide a mid-stream update to the Cures Act implementation process by focusing on the intersection of health policy, technology, and law. The program will include perspectives from leaders of the Health & Human Services agencies engaged in rule-making and other implementation related to the Cures Act, with separate moderated panel discussions involving leaders from industry, government, law, and policy. Panel members will exam key policy developments at the core of the Cures Act:  data blocking, the development of national health information networks, and EHR-related software and devices, including those involved in digital health. The program will be of interest to health care providers, IT and EHR companies, software developers, medical device companies, and others.
