Tyler earned his PhD at the University of Colorado, working under Professor Se-Hee Lee and participating on the inventing teams of the technologies that led to energy storage spin-outs Solid Power and SiILion. As co-founder and CTO at SiILion, Tyler scaled a team and a new Li-ion cell technology through prototype and early-pilot demonstrations until the company’s acquisition by Tesla in 2018. After ~4 years at Tesla, Tyler co-founded Mana Battery, Inc. to commercialize low-cost sodium battery materials and cell designs.
