Trent Bush

ARTILECT Studio — Founder | Co-CEO | Co-owner

With 5 generations of Boulder entrepreneurs in his family, Trent Bush continues this legacy as an innovator and outdoor industry leader with a career spanning more than 3 decades, from founding his own start-ups, to executive roles with some of the world’s biggest brands.

Trent was shaped at an early age, born into the outdoor industry where his father was one of the earliest employees at Frostline Kits, the revolutionary brand in the same lineage of early Boulder outdoor innovators Holubar Mountaineering and Gerry Mountain Sports.

Trent then founded his first brand Twist in 1989 with his brother and friends at Boulder High, driven by a love of skateboard culture, art, music, and lifestyle, creating one of history’s most influential snowboard apparel brands. From their University Hill office and Pearl Street storefront, Twist became an early pioneer in the pre-internet action sports and streetwear world, gaining a global reach that inspired countless brands along the way.

After Twist, a drive to innovate performance apparel led to leadership roles at a wide range of outdoor and snow-related brands, including Burton Snowboards, founding Section Clothing Company with David Jacobs and Spyder, and later in leadership roles at Fenix Outdoor (Fjallraven, Brunton, Hanwag, Primus) Mountain Hardwear, and Black Diamond Equipment.

Trent’s latest project is his role as founder and co-owner of Boulder’s ARTILECT Studio, taking his drive for apparel technology, performance, and innovation, as well as a passion for exploring culture and community, to build an outdoor apparel brand for the next generation.
