Shannon Hoffman is passionate about her community. She is a life-long learner and educator. Shannon is the general manager for The Driver’s Cooperative – Colorado, ride-share drivers cooperative in collaboration with The Drivers Cooperative in New York. Our cooperative will utilize a worker-owned app, Coop-Ride, as an alternative to Uber/Lyft to provide better working conditions , better pay for ride-share drivers, and democratic control of the business.
She has most recently served with the Montbello Community Organizing staff as the Project Manager for the FreshLo Hub, which will build a grocery store, theater, and 97 units of affordable housing in a food desert neighborhood. Additionally, she recently ran a grassroots campaign for Denver City Council with the campaign tag-line “we need a renter on City Council”as there are currently no renters serving on the dais. She earned 27% of the vote in the general election and 45% of the vote in the runoff.
She continues to support her friends at Hope Tank and organize with other community members who were a part of From Allies to Abolitionists, a project of Emancipation Theater. Shannon has been a member of the Chinook Fund’s Giving Project and Soul 2 Soul Sister’s Facing Racism. She has previously worked for Denver and Westminster Public Schools.
Shannon holds a BA in Journalism from Michigan State University and a MEd from Vanderbilt University.
