Scott Deutchman advises on internet policy and regulatory matters involving U.S. agencies that cover artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, competition, content, privacy, security, broadband, and export controls. Before joining Google, Scott served as Deputy General Counsel and Vice President for External Affairs at Neustar, Inc. where he oversaw the company’s regulatory, public policy and external affairs programs. Scott has had senior roles in the U.S. Government, including serving as the U.S. Deputy CTO for Telecommunications in the White House’s Office of Science and Technology Policy. In that position, he advised Administration officials on broadband, security, innovation and technology policy. Scott also served at the Federal Communications Commission as a Legal Advisor to interim Chairman and Commissioner Michael J. Copps. Scott began his legal career in the international trade group at the law firm of Hogan Lovells (formerly Hogan & Hartson). He then served as Minority Counsel to the U.S. House Judiciary Committee and a Managing Director for LMG, a public affairs firm in Washington. Scott graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and has a BS with honors from Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations.
