Lisa Hone is Chief Democratic Counsel for the Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade Subcommittee of the Energy & Commerce Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives. She is responsible for developing and advancing the legislative and policy goals for the Committee’s Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr., and other Democratic members on consumer protection matters, consumer product and automobile safety issues, supply chains, and other issues within the subcommittee’s jurisdiction.
Before joining the committee staff, Lisa was (briefly) a senior fellow at Silicon Flatirons. Between 2021-2022, Lisa was a Senior Policy Advisor for Broadband and Technology Policy at the National Economic Council at the White House on loan from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). At the FCC, Lisa led a wide range of telecommunications policy work between 2010-2022, including work on broadband privacy and the FCC’s universal service programs. Before joining the staff of the FCC, Lisa spent more than a decade at the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) working primarily on internet fraud enforcement matters and issues at the intersection of consumer protection and technology/telecommunications policy.
Lisa started her legal career as an associate at Davis, Polk & Wardwell in New York City. She is a graduate of the law school at the University of California at Los Angeles and received her undergraduate degree from Wesleyan University.
