Christine Chang is a PhD Candidate in computer science at the University of Colorado Boulder’s Collaborative Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Laboratory. Her research is in the area of human-autonomy teaming and human-robot interaction, where she studies how to challenge and overcome people’s often incorrect assumptions and biases about how AI and autonomous systems work. Christine earned her BS in mechanical engineering at Cornell University, an MS in STEM education at Boise State University, and an MS in computer science at CU Boulder. She has worked as an engineer at NASA Johnson Space Center and Boeing Commercial Airplanes, has taught grades from Kindergarten through college, and founded a gender-inclusive high school robotics team in Boise, Idaho. She has also been a volunteer firefighter and has her Private Pilot Certificate. Her hobbies include training for marathons, mountain biking, and skiing. After earning her PhD, she plans to pursue a career using her technical background to influence policymaking on issues including technology and education.
