Chris Vargas is a private investor and technology entrepreneur, currently living in Los Altos Hills, California.
Chris began his career working for the US Government where he developed and deployed secure networks globally as part of the DARPANET initiative. Following that he held a number of senior positions at technology companies including Cisco Systems; F-Secure Inc. (President), Proficient Networks (CEO), Aquacue (COO), Range Networks (VP) and Plannit (Founder/CEO).
Chris founded Emerging Cities Investments in 2017, a private equity firm specializing in multifamily real estate investing. He continues in this role today. He also actively invests in early stage startups and crypto currencies.
Chris founded ReWorld in 2021, a climate startup with a mission to amplify the impact of the world’s most successful climate and conservation organizations.
Chris was a Fulbright scholar to Finland and holds a M.S. and a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Notre Dame. He has been active in community and nonprofit work, serving on the boards of Cleantech Open, Social Ventures Silicon Valley, the Los Altos Hills Pathway Committee, Bullis Charter School and Proyecto Tito, a nature conservancy in Cartagena, Columbia.
Chris is an avid runner, cycler, tennis player and adventure traveler. He lives with his family in Los Altos Hills, California.
