Milo has been part of the Internet development community for 40 years. Milo recently founded Logos Space Services which is building a new dual-use Low Earth Orbit satellite constellation focused on Enterprise service. It will deliver closed user group network transport with MPLS as a service interface (with Internet Transit as an option), multi-gigabit symmetric up and downlink speeds, and is designed to be resilient to Electronic Warfare and jamming.
Before Logos, Milo spent almost 11 years at Google where he was Vice President of Access Services, leading Google’s spectrum activities, including spectrum sharing with the Federal Government and the development and fielding of Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS), the Google CBRS Spectrum Access System, cloud based network RF planning tools, as well as other efforts in wireless services. Milo also led the Google Fiber Fiber-to-the-Home program during its initial years and developed and deployed the first gigabit residential broadband Internet service across multiple cities across the US.
Before Google, he was founder and the Chief Technology Officer of Excite@Home, where he led the development of the company’s national infrastructure, and delivered the first large scale residential broadband access service across the US in partnership with major cable operators, including the development of the DOCSIS cable modem standard which is still in use today.
Prior to @Home, Milo led development of Internet technology and global science program networking as the Branch Chief of the NASA Science Internet Project Office at Ames Research Center. There he worked on the development of major Internet routing protocols and managed the primary West Coast Internet interconnect at Ames, as well as leading NASA’s Internet network, including the extension of the first Internet connectivity to several countries in the Pacific Rim, as well as to polar research facilities in Greenland and the Antarctic.
Milo majored in computer science at UC Berkeley, and while in school, he worked part-time on Defense Programs at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Milo has served on the Federal Communications Commission’s Technical Advisory Committee, and on the DoD’s Defense Innovation Board, where he co-authored the DIB’s reports on “5G risks and opportunities”, “Principles for Ethical use of AI”, “The Road to Zero Trust”, and other major recommendations. He has served on several National Academy of Sciences panels, testified in front of Congress multiple times, and holds or has held DoD TS/SCI and DOE Q security clearances.
Milo is the son of two immigrants and grew up on a farm in California’s Central Valley. He has been married for 24 years to his wife Catherine, and lives in Silicon Valley with their 4 children and a mini Golden Doodle.
