Ellery Roberts Biddle is the editorial director of Ranking Digital Rights. Ellery has been active in the global digital rights community for nearly ten years, primarily as the advocacy director at Global Voices, where she worked with an international network of writers, activists, and technologists telling stories about media freedom in the digital age, and the effects of technology on the lives and human rights of users around the world. A graduate of the University of Chicago’s Harris School, she began her work in the field as a policy analyst with the Center for Democracy & Technology, and was a fellow at Harvard’s Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society from 2014-2017. In addition to Global Voices, she has written for The New York Times, Slate, The Guardian, Quartz, and Americas Quarterly.
