GELA Pitch Night

Tags: Entrepreneurship / Law Innovation

See how governments can collaborate and innovate! Join us for the presentation of workable solutions to pressing problems faced by the City and County of Denver and State of Colorado in this Pitch Night—the finale to the 2018 Governmental Entrepreneurial Leadership Accelerator (GELA) run by Silicon Flatirons.

Four teams will pitch their ideas of innovation to Mayor Michael B. Hancock, Lt. Governor Donna Lynne, and Nicole Glaros of Techstars. Teams are comprised of rising stars from the City and County of Denver, City of Boulder, State of Colorado, Denver Public Schools, and students from the University of Colorado Law School and the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. Their pitches include solutions for recruiting and retaining foster parents, increasing efficiencies among hearing officers, streamlining grant contracting between the state and local governments, and reducing the number of people in jail who do not belong there.

Pitch Night is the capstone to this seven-week accelerator where teams attend a boot camp with a cutting-edge entrepreneurial curriculum, work closely with experienced mentors and government leaders, and research and test entrepreneurial solutions to their assigned problem statements. This accelerator is a partnership launched by Silicon Flatirons, the City and County of Denver, and State of Colorado to encourage innovative thinking within government.
