Tim Godfrey is engaged in standards, architecture, and technology development and demonstration for grid telecommunications across all domains: wide area networks, field area networks, and communications for end use and distributed energy resources. I am chair of the IEEE 802.24 Vertical Applications Technical Advisory Group and Smart Grid Task Group. He has extensive experience in 802.11, 802.15, and 802.16, as well as product and standards development for 3GPP LTE (Long Term Evolution). He has worked in system design and architecture, strategic marketing, business development, and standards development. Tim has a strong technical background in communication protocols, Media Access Control protocols, networking, and analog and digital design, at the transistor, gate, chip, system, and architectural level. I have 23 granted patents. Tim has managed development teams in various contexts from “skunk works” projects, to FPGA demo systems, to architecture definition of a multi-IC wireless modem platform.
